OUR BEFORE +
AFTER CARE PROGRAM
We offer before and after care for children ranging from 5 to 13 years of age during the school year in concert with the Prince George’s County Public School calendar. School age teachers and teacher assistants oversee the before and aftercare program.
The Before and After School Program employs school age teachers and teacher aides. The position of school age teacher requires at least six hours in early childhood elementary education, or a related field, and completion of the 45-hour MD approved school-age certification course from an approved Maryland State provider and five years of experience with school age children.
All Teachers and Teaching Assistants are required to become Maryland Child Care credentialed, within one year of employment and participate in on-going continuing education.
BEFORE CARE HIGHLIGHTS
- Operates from 6:30 until school time

- Supervised appropriate activities
- Quiet space for children needing to complete assignments/study for test
AFTERCARE HIGHLIGHTS
In addition to homework assistance, aftercare offers a variety of enrichment activities including:
- Literacy/reaching enhancement
- Mathematical concepts enrichment
- Science/cooking exploration
- Fitness/recreational sports
- Character Building Skills
- STEM
- Arts and Crafts
SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS
- Extended care on days when Prince George’s County public schools are closed
- Field Trips TBA (during days when public schools are out)
- A Christmas and a spring performing arts production written and directed by the staff

The following represents feeder schools from which children particpate in our Before and After school program. Transportation to/from our center shown with an (***) is provided by the PGCPS transportation department. KKCDC provides transportation for the other schools for a fee.
