The Creative Curriculum® System is used by King's Kids Child Development Center
The King’s Kids Child Development Center uses the Maryland State Department of Education’s approved Creative Curriculum as its’ curriculum and for assessment. This curriculum is fully aligned with the state core curriculum. The Creative Curriculum for Infant/Toddlers and Preschoolers is based on 36 objectives for development and learning. It offers opportunities for learning and skill development in the areas of language arts, science, social and multicultural awareness, music, creative arts, physical development and early mathematical concepts.
The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool Daily Resources:
+ Language Arts: Language arts are incorporated into the daily curriculum. This includes reading, listening, learning games, oral expression activities, and the phonetic approach to recognition, memorization, formation and sounding of the alphabets.
+ Number Concepts: Experiences in cooking, science, block play, manipulative games, and sand and water exploration offer rich contexts for early introduction to numbers and mathematical concepts.
+ Social/Multicultural Awareness: Social and self awareness skills, along with an awareness of one's family, community, and culture is fostered through field trips, stories and films are woven into the daily lesson plans.
+ Science: Science activities are designed to arouse and sustain the natural, personal and general curiosity of children by providing frequent hands-on experiences with nature and the environment, using age appropriate materials and procedures.
+ Creative Arts/Music: Creative expression is encouraged using various forms of the arts. Activities incorporate singing and movement, story telling, and dramatic play.
+ Physical/Health Development: Physical development and health are strengthened by daily access to the playground (weather permitting), planned activities that promote both large and small motor development, the encouragement of sound and safe health practices and woven into the daily lesson plans.
