WE USE THE
MARYLAND STATE CREATIVE CURRICULUM
OUR PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
The Center operates from 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The preschool program is composed of three of components:
before care, the actual program and the after-care.
Licesnsed staff provide supervised care and structured activities during before care from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and during after-care from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The preschool program as implemented from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., is broken down by ages with a class for 2/3; 3/4 and 4/5 year olds.
Each class is staffed with a teacher and a teacher assistant. Qualifications for the teacher position are an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, and three years of experience in a licensed daycare. For the teacher assistant position, it is preferable to have a CDA but as a minimum must possess a high school diploma, 45 hour course in Human Growth and Development, 45 hour course in Curriculum Activities, and at least one year of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
All Teachers and Teaching Assistants are required to become Maryland Child Care credentialed, within one year of employment and participate in on-going continuing education.
Our Preschool program offers the following highlights:
- Implementation of the Creative Curriculum (a hands-on interest arena/learning centers approach)
- Small group and individualized learning
- Supervised developmentally appropriate before and aftercare
- On-site meal preparation with menus distributed weekly
- Breakfast, lunch and an evening snack
- Monthly field trips during the school year
- Weekly field trips during the summer
- Library trips weekly during the school year
- Two performances showcasing skill acquisitions for parents, guardian, etc. during the school year
